UCLA sees pair of NFL scouts at practice on Monday

NFL scouts in Westwood.

As we are down to 26 days until the UCLA Bruins football team starts their 2024 season, interesting news came from the practice field. A pair of scouts from the National Football League were in attendance.

Coach Foster has referenced the talent on the field during the summer workouts and early fall practices. While it has not been disclosed who the scouts were watching, many project top receiver J. Michael Strudivant was a target. The two teams were the Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The receiver is 6’3, 205lbs, and runs a 4.38. He has the potential to be a solid red zone target in the NFL according to many scouts. He starts the season inside the top 100 NFL draft targets.

Others wonder if the scouts are there to see Jay Toia, who scouts say has excellent balance and shows enough speed to succeed in the league.

A season ago, Laiatu Latu was the 15th overall pick in the draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Then, Darius Muasau was drafted by the New York Giants in the sixth round.  Carson Steele, Gabriel Murphy, Colson Yankoff, Alex Johnson, Kenny Churchwell, Carl Jones, and Duke Clemens all went undrafted by being signed to an NFL team.
