Colorado inviting fans to watch preseason practice in Denver

Coach Prime is inviting fans to attend an open preseason practice

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders and his NFL-laden staff have planned something typically only seen at the professional level.

Looking to dispel the “monotony” of preseason camp, the Buffs will hold an open practice at All-City Stadium in Denver next Friday (Aug. 16) at 6:30 p.m. MT. Coach Prime believes allowing the public to watch practice will boost his players’ energy and focus amid the dog days of August.

“You hit monotony and you get into a schedule or routine, and I don’t want to get routine,” Sanders said during CU’s fall sports media day on Friday. “When you practice in front of company, no one’s going to embarrass themselves. When you guys are out there, everybody’s going to go hard. The camera’s going to be on it.”

Sanders hopes to pack All-City Stadium, which seats about 5,000 people.

“We want to give the wonderful fan base opportunities to touch the young men in this program,” Sanders said. “We’re probably going to take pictures and maybe sign a few autographs with the fan base. I’m pretty sure we’re going to sell it out and pack it up because that’s what we do.”

Colorado’s 2024 season opener will come against the North Dakota State Bison on Aug. 29. Kickoff at Folsom Field is set for 6 p.m. MT (ESPN).
