Jayson Tatum could dunk in chain mail armor even before he joined the Boston Celtics

We’re still not sure why they really needed to put this to the test, though. Maybe they’d lost the ankle weights?

We should have known Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum was destined for greatness when he showed us how he could still flush the rock while wearing a suit of armor.

He was a not yet drafted prospect out of Duke at the time of his appearance  in an ESPN “Sports Science” segment. In it, the St. Louis native dunked basketballs while quite literally going medieval on the rim. Tatum even managed a pretty impressive if labored dunk in a full set of chain mail armor created to “test the limits” of the former Blue Devil’s posterization skills.

Now we know that even in an alternate reality that might have had Tatum playing ball in protective gear after ye jousting tournament wouldn’t have hindered his leaping enough to keep him from dunking on hapless pages named Deuce.

In all seriousness, keep your basketball addiction fed with this quirky trip down memory lane while we wait for training camp and preseason to arrive this Fall.
