ESPN shows Colorado little respect in preseason Big 12 power rankings

The Buffs were placed far too low in ESPN’s preseason Big 12 power rankings

If you thought we were out of the woods with questionable Colorado football takes, you haven’t been paying attention to the national coverage the Buffs are receiving.

Earlier this week, ESPN its Week 1 Big 12 football primer, and Colorado was ranked No. 14 in the power rankings.

While the Buffs are coming off a 4-8 season, they are behind teams such as Baylor, which went 3-9 last year. ESPN’s Dave Wilson and Kyle Bonagura also claimed that Buffs quarterback Shedeur Sanders could be playing for the Heisman Trophy. A team with a Heisman QB doesn’t often finish 14th in its conference.

ESPN’s justification did not mention Colorado’s roster improvements but instead focused on head coach Deion Sanders:

After a last-place finish in the Pac-12 last year, the Deion Sanders marketing machine needs to show it can take care of business on the field.
