The Arizona Cardinals will play their preseason opener in one week from today. They are a little bit more than five weeks away from the start of the regular season.
In 36 days, they will take the field at Highmark Stadium on September 8 to take on the Buffalo Bills on the road.
The Cardinals’ current No. 36 on the roster is safety Andre Chachere, entering his second season with the team.
Chachere had a decent impact on the team in 2023.
After two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, he signed with the Cardinals, reuniting him with Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, who was the defensive coordinator for the Eagles previously.
Chachere, signed as depth at safety and for special teams play, played in all 17 games last season and started five times. He played 468 defensive snaps, finishing with 30 total tackles and three pass breakups.
He is not assured a spot on the roster but is a favorite to be one of the two reserve safeties behind Budda Baker and Jalen Thompson.
Baker actually also wore No. 36 to start his career in 2017-2018, before changing it to 32 and then No. 3.
This is officially the last weekend with no football until after the Super Bowl. It’s exciting!
