How LSU’s 2025 recruiting class compares to the rest of the SEC

How does LSU’s class compare to the rest of the SEC?

LSU’s 2025 recruiting class is one of the best in the country. Led by QB [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag], the Tigers have 16 blue-chip recruits according to On3’s Industry Rankings.

After things slowed down a bit earlier in the summer, the Tigers have recaptured some momentum on the trail after a big month in July that saw the team pick up several blue-chip commitments.

Here, we’ll take a look at how this class stacks up against the rest of the SEC.

There’s still a long way to go before classes are finalized and a few more big dominos are set to fall in August, but we have a good idea of what the final product might look like.

Overall ranking

Both the On3 Industry Rankings and the 247Sports composite Ratings have LSU as the No. 2 overall class in the SEC. The only team ahead is Alabama.

It’s close, but Alabama’s class has 21 commits compared to LSU’s 19. That extra bump is enough to keep the Tide in front.

Just behind LSU is Georgia. The Dawgs are pushing to secure commitments from some of the nation’s top remaining targets and are a threat to finish with the No. 1 overall class.

Texas is hovering around too, but the SEC’s top class looks like a three-horse race between Alabama, LSU and Georgia.

Who has the most five stars?

The top of LSU’s class is strong, but right now, it’s a notch behind Alabama. According to 247Sports, Alabama has five five-stars on board. The best of which is Keelon Russell, a five-star QB from Texas.

The Tide have five stars locked in at premium positions like offensive tackle, wide receiver, and cornerback.

Texas doesn’t have a single five-star yet, but the Longhorns could climb up the board quickly. Texas remains involved with five-stars Michael Terry, Michael Fasusi, Kaliq Lockett, Jamie Ffrench and Jonah Williams. A few of those guys are nearing decisions and could be off the board soon.

LSU is second in the SEC with three five-stars, but LSU could be adding to that total soon too.

The five-star race is far from over with LSU, Texas and Georgia all vying for the top remaining talent.

LSU has the best player in the class

LSU’s class might not rank No. 1 in the country, but it has the nation’s top player with Underwood.

Underwood drastically raises the ceiling of LSU’s class. These five-star QBs can be program-defining players and Underwood is one of the best we’ve seen.

With an elite QB behind center, there’s room for error when building the supporting staff.

Who has the best average recruit rating?

According to On3, LSU’s average recruit rating of 92.34 is the best in the SEC. It sits second nationally, just behind Oregon.

16 of LSU’s 19 commits are blue-chip players. The class might not have the same depth as some others just yet, but the overall quality is the best in the SEC.

LSU needs an influx of talent at some positions and this is the type of class that can put LSU in a position to compete for the SEC year after year.
