2024 Hall of Fame Game: Not many former Cardinals to be seen

With the Hall of Fame Game, there aren’t many Arizona Cardinals connections on the rosters of the Bears or Texans.

The 2024 Hall of Fame Game is Thursday, August 1 at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. Arizona time) at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio and features the Houston Texans and Chicago Bears.

It is the official beginning of the NFL preseason.

Both teams have 90-man rosters but between the two teams, there are few connections to the Arizona Cardinals.

Who are the former Cardinals on the roster?

  • Texans CB Kris Boyd: Boyd signed as a free agent in 2023 but was cut early in the season.
  • Bears S Jonathan Owens: He signed with the Cardinals as a rookie free agent in 2018, spent 2018 on injured reserve and was cut before the 2019 season.
  • Bears OL Coleman Shelton: Shelton spent time on the Cardinals’ practice squad in 2018.

That’s it.

Owens won’t play because he has been in Paris to watch his wife, Simone Biles, in the Olympics. Shelton is a projected starter and likely will not play.

Perhaps Boyd with get playing time.
