Duke Blue Devils finish 11th in 2024 ACC football preseason media poll

The ACC released its 2024 preseason football media poll on Wednesday, and the Blue Devils finished 11th out of 17 teams.

The ACC released its preseason football media poll on Wednesday, and the Duke Blue Devils only worked their way up to 11th.

The Blue Devils have won 17 games over the last two years, but a new head coach and the loss of Riley Leonard at quarterback clearly worried some writers and media members.

Florida State, who won the conference with an undefeated regular season in 2023, finished first in the voting. 81 of the 170 voters put the Seminoles first on their ballots.

Clemson (55), Miami (17), NC State (8), Virginia Tech (5), and California (2) each also received multiple first-place votes. The Tigers, Hurricanes, and Wolfpack finished second, third, and fourth in that order.

The North Carolina Tar Heels, despite losing first-round pick Drake Maye at quarterback, still finished eighth in the poll, three spots ahead of the Blue Devils.

The ACC also welcomed three new teams for the 2024 season in California, SMU, and Stanford. The Mustangs (seventh) and the Golden Bears (10th) both finished above the Blue Devils. The Cardinal finished in last place at 17th.
