Kentucky basketball fans are eager to see if new coach Mark Pope can land the type of recruiting classes they’re used to, starting with the 2025 group. They haven’t landed any commitments yet, but they have received a prediction to land top 25 player Malachi Moreno.
Moreno is a seven-footer, and an in-state recruit that Pope has prioritized in this recruiting cycle. On3’s Joe Tipton has made a prediction that Pope and the Wildcats would land Moreno as their first commitment of 2025.

On3 has Moreno ranked higher than the other major recruiting services at 16th overall. He’s generally considered at top 25 player, however, and the top center in the class as well.
Moreno is set to visit Kentucky during March Madness this year, so will likely be a few months before he makes a decision. There’s no question that he is a talented player who would be a great addition to the roster. Fans will wait and see if Tipton’s prediction comes true.
