Five-star 2025 prospect has Kentucky basketball in his final eight

Top five recruit Darryn Peterson has put Kentucky basketball in his final eight schools.

Kentucky coach Mark Pope is still waiting for his first commitment from the 2025 class, but he and Kentucky basketball did get some good news on Wednesday. Top five recruit Darryn Peterson named his final eight schools, and the Wildcats are on the list.

Peterson had narrowed his choices down to eight once before, but reopened his recruitment after several coaching changes. Kentucky was on the previous list, along with Arkansas and John Calipari.

The new list, according to Peterson’s father, includes Kansas, Ohio State, Louisville, Arizona State, Washington, Kansas State, USC, and the Wildcats.

Peterson is a 6’5″, 195 lb combo guard who plays for Huntington Prep in West Virginia. He is currently ranked as the third overall player in the 2025 class by 247sports, and is the top player at his position.

Visits will be taking place soon, with a visit to Lexington set to happen in October. Mark Pope and all Kentucky fans are hoping he chooses the Wildcats soon after.
