The Iowa Hawkeyes are looking to get back to winning in the trenches and that all starts up front with the offensive line. That, it all starts on the interior.
Iowa wants to run the ball and be physical and Logan Jones is at the center of that. The Hawkeyes’ center out of Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa is back for his fourth season with Iowa. He aims to make it his best.
That starts now as Jones has found himself on the preseason watch list for the Outland Trophy.

The Outland Trophy is awarded to the best interior offensive or defensive lineman in college football and is presented by the Football Writers Association of America.
The Outland Trophy is the third-oldest major college football award. Created in 1946 when Dr. John Outland presented the FWAA with a financial contribution to initiate the award, the Outland Trophy has been given to the best interior lineman in college football ever since. – FWAA
The Hawkeyes have claimed the Outland Trophy four times since its inception in 1946. Those winners are Calvin Jones in 1955, Alex Karras in 1957, Robert Gallery in 2003, and Brandon Scherff in 2014.
Logan Jones has started 13 games in each of the last two seasons for the Hawkeyes and is a veteran anchor up front for a team going through an offensive facelift looking for experience and reliability.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Jones has found himself named to the Athlon and Phil Steele preseason third-team All-American Teams and a preseason First-Team Big Ten selection for both of the same teams.
