Ravens HC John Harbaugh talks about luxury of having versatile defensive backs

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh talked about the luxury of having multiple defensive backs on the field at the same time

The Baltimore Ravens have extreme strength in their secondary. They have an incredible balance of young talent combined with veteran leaders, which makes the unit one of the best (if not the best) in the NFL today.

When speaking to the media, head coach John Harbaugh was asked about using certain defensive backs on the field together, such as cornerback Arthur Maulet and safety Kyle Hamilton. Harbaugh said that the beauty of what the team has to do ends up creating problems for the offense.

“Certainly. What you’ll see is personnel groups, with different guys in different spots. The basic personnel group with Arthur [Maulet] at nickel is a group, and you’ve got a group with Marlon [Humphrey] at nickel. You’ve got a group with Kyle [Hamilton] down there in at that spot – Kyle could be over at the dime. That’s the beauty of what we have an opportunity to do and a lot of guys to play at a starter level and be on the field and mix it up a little bit and create problems for offenses.”

Between Hamilton, Marcus Williams, Eddie Jackson, and others, Baltimore’s safety has no shortage of stars. Combine them with Maulet, Marlon Humphrey, Brandon Stephens, Nate Wiggins, and more, and the Ravens can rotate in an exceptional level of talented players throughout the 2024 season in their secondary.
