Cade Klubnik on limiting his turnovers in 2024

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik addresses the turnovers from last season, working on limiting them in 2024.

Clemson starting quarterback Cade Klubnik has flashed his high potential, but lacked consistency in 2023 as his tirst year as the Tigers’ starter.

Playing 13 games last season, Klubnik threw a solid 19 touchdowns, but the nine interceptions were a lot considering the limitations of the Tigers’ offense. Turnovers are never opportune for the offense; some came in brutal situations.

Klubnik addressed the interceptions at his press conference on Thursday during the 2024 ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte.

“Yeah, I think the first thing would be obviously getting to be in the same system again, said Klubnik. I think being able to know the offense, I mean, it almost feels like the longer you’re in a system, you know how to get through progressions faster, cancel out yes, no, pre-snap progressions, knowing when you’re hot off of blitzes, knowing the protections better,” he said. “That obviously comes with getting the ball out of my hand quicker. Less interceptions, less sacks, being able to make big-time plays with either my legs or throwing the ball downfield.”

Opening the offense up would be huge for this offense, but a lot of that relies on Klubnik being able to make the big plays. We’ve seen him to it before, it really is about consistency.

This goes beyond just him as well. It’s universal to the offense. The wide receivers and offensive lines didn’t do him as many favors as you’d assume with the way people talk about Klubnik.

The potential for this offense in 2024 is high.
