USC football is almost about to begin preseason camp heading into the LSU season opener in Week 1. Lincoln Riley provided a roster update, noting the availability of several players who had been dealing with injury-related or administrative issues this offseason. Chris Trevino of USC’s 247Sports site has more:
– One of the biggest questions on the minds of USC fans going into fall camp is the overall health of the team. USC had several notable players banged up by the end of spring (John Humphrey, Bear Alexander, Jaylin Smith) or those that were not fully cleared (Zion Branch, Gino Quinones, Christian Pierce). Head coach Lincoln Riley stated that everyone will be “full-go” for fall camp except for two players: freshman offensive tackle Kalolo Ta’aga and tight end Carson Tabaracci. Ta’aga is dealing with a foot injury and Tabaracci suffered a neck injury at the end of spring.
It will be interesting to see what a more available roster can do in preseason camp, and how quickly players are able to get up to speed with the schemes, particularly on defense, with new coordinator D’Anton Lynn trying to overhaul the Trojans after a disastrous 2023.
