Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton reported for training camp this week ahead of Friday’s official start of full-speed practice.
Earlier this year, after holding out from the voluntary part of the team’s offseason program this spring, Sutton reported for mandatory minicamp in June.
Sutton skipped the team’s voluntary workouts in protest of his contract situation. When asked in June if he would report to training camp without a new contract, Sutton was noncommittal.
The receiver was at practice for a ramp-up practice on Wednesday, just as coach Sean Payton predicted a day earlier.
During his pre-camp press conference on Tuesday, Payton was asked if there was an update on Sutton’s status.
“No, and there will not be any,” Payton said. “He will be here like we talked about and ready to go.”
Sutton, 28, is set to have a base salary of $13 million this year with $2 million guaranteed. His salary will increase to $13.5 million next year, but none of it will be guaranteed.
The Broncos will have 16 open training camp practices this summer, but free tickets are required. Sutton and his teammates will have another light ramp-up session on Thursday before camp officially begins with fans in attendance on Friday.
