UNC basketball offers Arizona forward in 2026 class

The UNC basketball program has offered a big recruit in the 2026 class.

Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels’ basketball program have added another prospect to their 2026 recruiting board.

Earlier this week, UNC offered a few recruits in the 2025 and 2026 recruiting classes, establishing their board. And on Wednesday, the program extended an offer to small forward Miikka Muurinen.

The Arizona native has a tie to North Carolina as his mother, Jenni Laaksonen, played at North Carolina in the early 2000’s. His father, Kimmo, had a successful pro basketball career overseas. So there is a lot of basketball in his blood as his recruitment starts to pick up after a big showing at the Peach Jam for Brad Beal Elite.

The 6-foot-10, 185-pound forward has 10 offers but they are starting to stack up for him. In recent days, Duke, Arkansas, and Kentucky have all offered him. He also has offers from Illinois, Cincinnati, and Alabama among others.

Muurinen is ranked No. 44 overall, the No. 9 power forward and No. 1 player in the state of Arizona per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

With the offer to Muurinen, North Carolina has now offered five prospects in the 2026 class. They have yet to land an offer from any prospect in the 2025 or 2026 classes.
