USC 2024 Summer Olympic schedule for July 25

The opening ceremony is on Friday, but Olympic soccer begins before then. USC athletes will be in action in France.

The 2024 Summer Olympics have their opening ceremony on Friday, July 26, in Paris. However, Olympic competitions start a few days earlier in select sports. The Olympic soccer competition needs two and a half weeks, not two, in order to facilitate a full round of group play before the knockout stages of the tournament, akin to what we see at the Euros, Copa America, the World Cup, and other major international soccer events. Therefore, the 2024 Summer Olympics will feature soccer matches on Wednesday, July 24, and Thursday, July 25. USC athletes will be in action on July 25.

USC’s Simi Awujo will be in action at 8 a.m. Pacific time on Thursday when her Canadian team faces New Zealand in women’s soccer group play. Then, at 10 a.m. Pacific, Nicole Payne and Team Nigeria face Brazil. Both events will be available for viewing on NBCOlympics.com. The Olympics run through Sunday, Aug. 11 and will be available on a variety of networks and outlets. USC is sending over 60 athletes to Paris for the Olympic fortnight.
