The college football offseason has nearly come to a close as teams across the country begin training camp next week.
Mike Elko is entering his first season as Texas A&M head coach and the Aggies will reportedly put on their pads in a week. According to Houston Chronicle reporter Brent Zwerneman, Texas A&M will hold its first training camp practice on July 31.
The Aggies will have exactly one month to prepare for the season opener against Notre Dame on Aug. 31 at Kyle Field. Elko will face off against his former starting quarterback at Duke, senior Riley Leonard, who chose the Fighting Irish in the transfer portal after Elko departed for College Station.
The Notre Dame connections continue as Elko was defensive coordinator in South Bend for one season in 2017. Elko left the Fighting Irish in 2018 as well to take the same gig in Aggieland.
All the talk and speculation will start to end next Wednesday.
