Has Anton Watson earned a roster spot?

Anton Watson was one of the Boston Celtics standout performers at Las Vegas Summer League, but has he done enough to earn a roster spot?

Anton Watson joined the Boston Celtics as the 54th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The Gonzaga product is a low-ceiling, high-floor prospect with multiple NBA-ready skills as he enters the league. Watson has impressed throughout summer league due to his professional approach and diverse offensive game.

Watson played in all five of Boston’s games in Las Vegas, averaging 11.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per night while shooting 51.1% from the field and 35% from deep. He also impressed on the defensive end, where he displayed a strong understanding of how to control angles to cut off driving lanes and a knack for securing rebounds in traffic.

On the latest episode of the “How ‘Bout Them Celtics” podcast, hosts Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance discuss whether Watson has earned himself a spot on Boston’s roster or whether he will be spending the upcoming season with the Maine Celtics in the G League.
