Former Michigan State coach Harlon Barnett is already making a positive impact for a fellow Big Ten squad.

Barnett — who has been a long-time coach at Michigan State and served as the Spartans interim head coach last year for 10 games — has joined the Northwestern staff this year. He will serve as an assistant head coach and safeties coach for the Wildcats.

During Big Ten Media Days on Tuesday, Northwestern Head Coach David Braun stated Barnett has been a “tremendous help to him” and bring a ton of Big Ten knowledge to the staff. Check out the complete statement from Braun below — courtesy of On3’s Kenny Jordan:
