Titans owner vetoed 2023 trade deadline deal sending Derrick Henry to Ravens

The Ravens reportedly had a deal done for running back Derrick Henry in 2023, but Tennessee Titans higher ups overruled the deal

The Baltimore Ravens lost in the AFC Championship game to the Kansas City Chiefs in a disappointing fashion, sparking plenty of conversation about the team’s future. They only ran the ball six times with their running backs, and things might have been different had they had running back Derrick Henry.

In an article about Henry, Dan Pompei of The Athletic revealed that the Ravens and Titans had the framework for a deal for Baltimore to acquire Henry for a fourth-round pick that would have turned into a third with production stipulations.

It’s unclear why Tennessee would turn down such a deal, but speculation has said they wanted to honor one of the greatest players in Titans history by letting him finish his contract year. On Baltimore’s side, they ended up getting Henry for nothing, but they didn’t have him last season when he could have possibly changed the Ravens’ AFC Championship woes.
