2024 Cardinals roster preview: DL Naquan Jones

We will preview every player on the Cardinals’ roster heading into training camp. This is about defensive lineman Naquan Jones.

The Arizona Cardinals will open training camp July 23 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.

Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2023, questions they face and their roster outlook.

Next up is defensive lineman Naquan Jones.

Background

Jones signed with the Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2021 from Michigan State and was with them until being waived on Nov. 7, 2023. The Cardinals signed him to the practice squad three days later and to the active roster on Dec. 5.

2023 stats

Before being cut by the Titans, Jones played eight games with one start and participated in 67 snaps on defense and 11 on special teams. He had eight solo tackles and four quarterback pressures. With the Cardinals, Jones played four games with one start and played 104 defensive snaps and 22 on special teams. He totaled nine tackles (three solo) with one for loss.

2024 contract details, cap hit

The contract Jones signed at the end of 2023 covered this season in which his salary and cap charge are $1.055 million, the veteran minimum for players with three credited seasons.

Questions he faces

A solid rotational player, the question is whether Jones will show enough in training camp to earn a job.

2024 roster outlook

Thanks to the offseason additions on the defensive line, Jones is on the bubble along with several other returning players. He might end up on the practice squad.
