Caitlin Clark sets more WNBA records in Indiana Fever’s recent game

Caitlin Clark is already rewriting the WNBA record books.

Records are meant to be broken and Caitlin Clark is taking great joy in breaking WNBA records at a furious pace during her rookie year. She has notched more records in the Indiana Fever’s recent game.

The Fever ultimately lost to the Dallas Wings by a score of 101-93, but it was of little fault of Clark. She had 24 points and 19 assists to try and do everything she could.

The 19 assists are the record-breaker. It has set a new WNBA single-game record. Clark scoring 24 points has also landed her in exclusive territory. There has only ever been one other game with at least 20 points and 15 assists. Courtney Vandersloot did so in 2018 and Clark joins her in this highly elite club.

Another record that fell was the total amount of points that Clark accounted for. With scoring 24 of her own and assisting on 19 buckets, she accounted for a new WNBA single-game record of 66 points.

Last, but certainly not least, Clark has continued to break ground as a rookie. This is her third game with 20 points and 10 assists as a rookie. In WNBA history, all other rookies combined for one game ever matching those stats. Caitlin Clark already has three games with such output.

On the season, Clark is averaging 16.8 points, 7.8 assists, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. She is shooting 39.8% overall, 33.2% from three-point range, and 89.7% from the free throw line.

Entering a long break for the Olympics, Clark has some time to rest up and catch her breath more than she has had in years with going from the Iowa Hawkeyes to the WNBA in a matter of weeks.
