Boston’s Jaylen Brown doesn’t buy the explanation for his Team USA snub

“There will be more stuff to come with that,” said Brown.

Whatever the reason he was left off the US National Team for the 2024 Paris Olympics, star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown will assuredly use it as motivation for the coming 2024-25 NBA season. But Brown thinks he knows why, and he is not shy about sharing his theory that the snub was less about fit and more about politics.

For Brown, the omission was “for sure” due to the influence of Nike. “There will be more stuff to come with that. But as of now, I’m not going to comment on it,” he explained in a recent interview with CLNS Media.

Some took his ire at the snub as a potential swipe at teammate Derrick White, who ultimately took the spot vacated by an injured Kawhi Leonard instead of Brown. But the Georgia native quickly shut that narrative down.

“I called Derrick right away,” he explained. “Just to make sure there’s no confusion …  me and D-White are good.”
