USC football handles 2025 recruits while also looking deep into the future

USC is dreaming big about a very young receiver.

IMG Academy Bradenton (Florida) wide receiver Eric McFarland III has been offered by USC and he hasn’t played a down of high school football yet.

The class of 2028 athlete-receiver, along with IMG Academy quarterback Jayden Wade, are two of the top incoming freshman in the nation and are on the all-freshman preseason team for the 2024 high school football season.

McFarland also holds Arizona, Colorado, UCF, Florida State, Georgia, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Toledo, UNLV, Washington and Wisconsin.

The 5-foot-8, 170-pound McFarland is going to be a mainstay for the Ascenders during the next four years. He catches the football with ease and makes sharp cuts. Look out for McFarland as a possible future five-star recruit.

It’s true that the main focus for USC has to be the 2025 recruiting class, and more than that, what it is able to achieve up front on the defensive and offensive lines. That’s the heart of the Trojans’ recruiting wish list right now. Yet, getting an elite receiver a few years down the line certainly couldn’t hurt.
