In the new NIL era, the Washington Huskies have partnered with their NIL collective, Montlake Futures, to support good causes. From the Seattle Humane Society to the Girl Scouts of America and many more in between, Montlake Futures’ mission has been to make sure its athletes receive fair compensation and help their community in the process.
They continued that partnership with the American Heart Association and the Seattle Fire Department as members of Seattle FD’s Medic 2 Bystander CPR training program dropped by one of coach Jedd Fisch’s to teach the Huskies “hands-only” CPR.
The American Heart Association described hands-only CPR as “effective as CPR with breaths in the first few minutes during an out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest for an adult victim.” The AHA’s website describes that 70 percent of Americans feel helpless to act during a cardiac emergency because they aren’t trained in CPR or out of fear of hurting the patient.
That makes their campaign to teach more people hands-only CPR even more important, and getting the Huskies involved is sure to be helpful too.
