The Washington Huskies are among the three teams left in the running for four-star athlete Dylan Robinson, who is set to announce his commitment on Thursday, July 18. The nation’s No. 8 athlete and No. 198 overall player stars at both wide receiver and defensive back at Bonita High School in La Verne, California and it appears Washington could give him the opportunity to do that at the college level.
Although he is mainly being recruited by cornerbacks coach John Richardson to play defense, he could have a chance to play wide receiver under coach Kevin Cummings too, which was a selling point for four-star wide receiver commit Chris Lawson.
“Coach Fisch sat me down and told me, ‘I would rather you start on offense and get everything down, and then [we’ll] let you get in on the defensive side and let you start rotating in’,” Lawson told Athlon Sports’ Lars Hanson.
At 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Robinson has shown elite movement skills on both sides of the ball that could make him a star at the college level, which is why Notre Dame and UCLA are also in hot pursuit of him ahead of his commitment.
“He’s an excellent ball tracker (something that allows him to star on offense) and thrives with his length and physicality as a defender,” Huskies Wire’s Ben Glassmire said. “He also has a slighter frame, but isn’t afraid to come downhill and work against screens when needed…As a press man corner, he could easily use his length and physical play style to antagonize receivers.”
If Fisch’s coaching staff wants to push the selling point of playing on both sides of the ball, that could give the Huskies a leg up in his recruitment, which is crucial to Washington’s 2025 class.
He would become the second-highest rated member of Fisch’s inaugural class if he were to choose Washington and is the perfect prototype of the type of skill player the Huskies are looking to build around in the Big Ten.
