Right on brand! Texas A&M outfielder Braden Montgomery was taken 12th by the Boston Red Sox in the 2024 MLB Draft. This selection is the highest-selected Aggie position player in team history.

The former Stanford transfer came to Aggieland for the 2024 Aggie team and had an instant impact. As an elite hitter and great defender, Montgomery can make a similar impact in Boston. Montgomery showed throughout the season that he has big-league power, hitting 27 home runs on a shortened season due to injury.

If it wasn’t for a season-ending injury that took him out of the College World Series, he might have been a top 5 pick this season. However, to still be a day one top 15 pick is a testament to how great of a pro prospect Montgomery has become.
