The North Carolina Tar Heels will soon find out their fate of a top shooting guard in the 2025 recruiting class. And he happens to be a very important recruit for their 2025 big board.
Five-star shooting guard Jasper Johnson appears close to the finish line in his recruitment and a decision could come within a week or two. Joe Tipton of On3 hinted at a looming decision on Sunday, when he tweeted out that “a commitment is nearing and a decision is expected after the Peach Jam” in regards to Johnson.

Johnson has drawn a lot of attention in his recruitment with 21 offers so far in his recruitment. He’s taken eight total visits in his recruitment but it sounds like he’s down to three legit contenders, including North Carolina.
Reports have circulated that North Carolina, Alabama, and Kentucky are the teams ranked high in his recruitment, likely coming down to one of the three in the coming weeks. Hubert Davis has already watched Johnson at the Peach Jam and according to Tipton, Alabama’s Nate Oats and Kentucky’s Mark Pope were there on Sunday.
Johnson is ranked No. 12 nationally, No. 2 shooting guard and the No. 1 player in the state of Missouri per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He’s the former teammate of Elliot Cadeau and James Brown.
