San Antonio Spurs defeat Portland Trail Blazers 83-77 in Las Vegas Summer League opener

The San Antonio Spurs have started their slate of games in the NBA’s 2024 Las Vegas Summer League off with a bang. The Spurs beat the Portland Trail Blazers in summer league action to the tune of 83-77 in UNLV’s Thomas Mack Center, the venue in which the exhibition tilt was played.

The win saw great games from University of Connecticut alum Stephon Castle (22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal on 8-of-21 shooting from the floor overall, 2-of-6 from beyond the arc, and a solid 4-of-5 from the free throw line). Big man Nathan Mensah also added a dozen points, 10 boards, and 2 steals on 4-of-7 shooting with a perfect 4-of-4 shots from the charity stripe, and guard Jamaree Bouyea also put up 11 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and an impressive 4 blocks.

San Antonio next plays the Atlanta Hawks in Sin City action at 8 pm ET this Sunday (July 14).
