Michigan football gets second 2025 wide receiver commit from SEC country

A super-fast guy at a position of need! #GoBlue

Thus far, Michigan football is having an excellent time recruiting the state of Louisiana — a state where the Wolverines had long struggled to manage to find talent willing to migrate north. But with Ron Bellamy, a Louisiana native who wore a winged helmet, recruiting as the wide receivers coach, things have changed in a hurry.

It started with Amorion Walker in 2021 but this 2025 recruiting cycle has seen two Louisiana players (both from Marrero Archbishop Shaw) pledge to Michigan football. Running back Jasper Parker and wide receiver Jacob Washington are heading north and now a third player (from a different high school) will join them.

2025 Destrehan (La.) three-star wide receiver Phillip Wright III was considering the Wolverines, Georgia, and LSU and ultimately decided Ann Arbor was a better place to cultivate his career than Atlanta. He committed to Michigan football on Saturday.

Wright is the BLANK commit in the 2025 cycle for Michigan football. Here is how he ranks according to the recruiting services:

* Ovr. Pos. St.
247Sports Composite 3 534 33 21
On3 Industry Ranking 3 415 66 11
247Sports 3 30 21
On3 3 46 10
ESPN 3 84 17
Rivals 4 52 11

An avid track-runner, Wright ran a blazing-fast 10.62 100-meter dash in 2023.

Wright also had offers from Georgia Tech, Miami, Nebraska, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, among others.
