Former LSU star Angel Reese’s WNBA record double-double streak ends at 15 games

Angel Reese finished with eight points and 16 rebounds as her record double-double streak came to an end.

Angel Reese’s WNBA record consecutive double-double streak — which sat at 15 games entering Saturday’s contest against the New York Liberty — came to an end as the Chicago Sky lost 81-67.

Reese held up the rebounding end of the bargain, finishing with 16 as she tied her third-highest total of the season. But, despite having several opportunities in the final possessions, she finished with just eight points in the game as she faced stiff defense from a Liberty team intent on ending the streak.

The previous record for consecutive double-doubles was 12, set by Candace Parker. Prior to breaking that record, Reese had already set the record for consecutive double-doubles in a single season.

The rookie WNBA double-double record is also still in reach for Reese.

Reese and the Sky will look to bounce back when they face the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday as the former continues in her quest to become the league’s Rookie of the Year.
