When Larry Bird scolded the Boston Celtics media

The dynamic that pits sportswriters and NBA players against one another in something of an adversarial relationship is nothing new under the sun. In fact, it has been around as long as reporters have been coming to NBA games to try to report on the league.

And such was the case in the era of Hall of Fame Boston Celtics forward Larry Bird, who often had a rancorous relationship with the media should they be foolish enough to ask the Hick From French Lick a dumb question. But sometimes they would, which elicited some serious tongue lashings from Larry Legend.

One such reporter who was there to see it go down is longtime Boston beat writer Dan Shaughnessy, who recently shared a tale about it with the eponymous hosts of the CLNS Media “Bob Ryan, Jeff Goodman, and Gary Tanguay!” podcast. Check it out below!
