Four-star S Ladarian Clardy sets his commitment date

One of Washington’s top secondary targets has set his commitment date.

The Washington Huskies didn’t offer a scholarship to four-star safety Ladarian Clardy until early April, but Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff has been in hot pursuit of the product of Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida, ever since.

He has built a strong relationship with safeties coach Vinnie Sunseri, who got the first official visit from the nation’s No. 182 overall player and No. 15 safety. Now, he’s cut his top 10 list down to five ahead of his commitment date.

“I will be committing on Aug. 3,” Clardy told On3’s Chad Simmons. “What’s most important to me is the school that can develop me on and off the field. I also want to be part of a team that’s a brotherhood. And the main thing is I’m looking for a school that can help me get to the next level.”

The other four schools in the running for his services are Central Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State. Clardy is currently holds crystal ball projections to both Mike Norvell’s Seminoles and Lane Kiffin’s Rebels, but Sunseri has made Washington a sleeper team to watch ahead of his commitment.

The Huskies don’t have any safeties committed in the 2025 class and appear to have been saving a spot in hopes of convincing the four-star safety to leave the South for the Pacific Northwest and the Big Ten, and seem to have a decent shot at doing so.
