Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin defers to Colorado’s Deion Sanders when deciding who has ruled the college football transfer portal era.
Kiffin shouted out Coach Prime on his X (previously Twitter) account, responding to a post by On3’s transfer portal account. The post asked which head coach was the “GOAT” of the transfer portal era, lining up Sanders, Kiffin and Oregon Ducks leader Dan Lanning. Kiffin quoted the tweet and wrote, “Coach Prime!!!!”
Kiffin, who boasts the No. 1 transfer portal class of 2024 (247Sports), may be humble, but Sanders has obviously dominated the portal. Sanders has picked up 42 transfers this offseason, four more than Kiffin and Lanning combined. Colorado’s incoming transfer portal class is ranked No. 8 overall just a year after having the top transfer class in the nation.

Either way, Sanders’ “GOAT” status will have to stand the test of the Big 12 next season as both Oregon and Ole Miss enter 2024 with high expectations.
