Former University of Connecticut standout combo guard and current San Antonio Spurs rookie Stephon Castle showed fans of the team that took him No. 4 overall in the 2024 draft why he was a steal even at that early slot in the lottery with another big game in California Classic Summer League play.
Castle put up a game-high 18 points on some especially inefficient shooting (he went just 8-of-21 overall and an ice-cold 0-of-6 from beyond the arc), but found other ways to impact the Spurs on their way to an 89-67 blowout of the Chinese National Team in Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center this past Tuesday (July 9) night.
The New York native also logged 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals for a solid outing even considering his case of the yips against China. Castle sat down to speak to the media after the win. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what he had to say, courtesy of the Spurs’ YouTube channel.
