Michigan football is still in the thick of it when it comes to 2025 recruiting but 2026 is the year when head coach Sherrone Moore should really be able to raise the stakes. That’s because much of the 2025 class, though committed to Moore, started being recruited by Jim Harbaugh. The next class should see the fruits that come with excitement behind a regime change.
Among those paying attention to the maize and blue is 2026 Baton Rouge (La.) University School five-star interior offensive lineman Lamar Brown. Rated the No. 5 player overall per both On3 and the 247Sports Composite, Brown is an elite prospect from a solid school in Louisiana.
He dropped his top 12 on Monday and Michigan football made the cut, along with Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Tulane, UCF, LSU, Houston, Florida State, USC, Alabama, Tennessee, and Miami.

It’s an interesting top group that Brown has, with some elite programs mixed with some schools that don’t often get elite talent.
Two things here work in Michigan’s favor: the Wolverines already have an elite quarterback committed in 2026 in Brady Hart and also Louisiana native, Michigan WR coach, Ron Bellamy. Bellamy, in particular, has found recent success in recruiting his home state, having gotten two players from Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw while the Wolverines hope to get another in wide receiver Phillip Wright III from Destrehan (La.).
