The UFC’s return to Paris has a marquee fight.
Scheduled for Sept. 28 at Accor Arena, contenders [autotag]Renato Moicano[/autotag] and [autotag]Benoit Saint-Denis[/autotag] will battle in a lightweight fight.
Ag. Fight first reported the matchup was verbally agreed to. MMA Junkie has since confirmed the fighters have signed their bout agreements – for five rounds.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the details but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Moicano (19-5-1 MMA, 11-5 UFC) rides a three-fight winning streak including a recent TKO victory over Jalin Turner at UFC 300 in April. Moicano has won five of his most recent six outings with the lone loss in that stretch a short-notice decision defeat to Rafael dos Anjos.
A native of Paris, Saint-Denis (13-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) headlines a UFC show for the first time, and does so in his native country. He looks to bounce back from a knockout loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 299 in March. That defeat snapped a five-fight winning streak that included all finishes.
With the addition, the UFC Paris lineup includes:
- Renato Moicano vs. Benoit Saint Denis
- Joanderson Brito vs. William Gomis
- Nora Cornolle vs. Germaine de Randamie
