When the Buffalo Bills drafted former Washington Huskies linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft, coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane knew exactly what they were getting in the one-time walk-on.
During his time on Montlake, Ulofoshio tallied 251 tackles, 7 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 8 pass breakups, and an interception. He displayed top-notch football IQ and elite athleticism while batting through multiple severe injuries that caused him to miss the latter half of the 2021 season and most of the 2022 campaign but displayed more than enough for the Bills to feel comfortable selecting him with the No. 160 pick.
Now that he’s found his new home in Buffalo, Ulofoshio deserves a shot to make the two-deep depth chart during his first season. The Bills are in the middle of a contract overhaul that saw them release All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White and could force them to move on from starting inside linebacker Matt Milano and a few other defenders after the season.
While Ulofoshio has yet to even begin training camp, his six years of experience at the college level should serve him well as he transitions to the professional ranks and defensive coordinator Bobby Babich’s scheme.
“He’s such an intelligent mind,” Ulofoshio said. “He knows safeties and linebackers and is a defensive coordinator. Whenever you have a coach who is well-versed in every position, you know that he is going to have an extremely elite defense. I’m super excited to play under him, he’s probably one of the best minds in football right now.”
He’s currently projected by OurLads as the No. 5 inside linebacker on the roster but also has a lot to offer on special teams. Between his physical talents and cerebral skills, Ulofoshio brings a lot to the Bills and should find himself flying up the depth chart this summer.
