Marcus Williams: I’ve always been a leader, I’ve always been vocal

Ravens safety Marcus Williams emphasized that he’s always been a leader and vocal about it

The Baltimore Ravens signed safety Marcus Williams to a five-year, $70 million deal during the 2022 offseason. While Williams has been primarily phenomenal when he’s been on the field for Baltimore, he’s suffered multiple injuries over his first two seasons with the team.

Williams has been asked plenty about his history and leadership as he continues to get more acclimated with the Ravens year after year. He discussed how he’s always been a leader and made sure to mention that he’s also been a vocal leader, alongside the other qualities that he’s displayed over his stay in Baltimore.

“I mean, I’ve always been a leader; I’ve always been vocal. That’s just something I’ve been doing. If you’ve been out here the last couple of years that I’ve been here, I’ve been doing the same thing. So, it’s nothing new to me; it’s just something that’s true to me.”

Williams is the oldest safety on the team, which makes it important that he continue to expand on the leadership role that he’s already made a point to dive into. His on-field play speaks for itself, but with so many younger pieces expected to step in on defense, Williams can also be a guide for others.
