Recruiting the state of California has been hit-or-miss for Michigan football over the years, but the Wolverines have steadily targeted 2025 Danville (Calif.) San Marcos Valley four-star edge rusher Marco Jones.
Jones visited Ann Arbor the first weekend that official visit weekends were allowed, on May 31, but still had the whole month of June to check out some of his other top schools. With Texas and Texas A&M appearing to be his primary competition, the dual-sport athlete (Jones also intends on playing baseball in college) had his pick of some of the top programs in the country.
But the lack of baseball prowess appeared to be a factor, and ultimately, Jones pledged to the Aggies on Tuesday.
BREAKING: Four-Star EDGE Marco Jones has Committed to Texas A&M, he tells me for @on3recruits
The 6’5 240 EDGE from Danville, CA chose the Aggies over USC, Michigan, & Texas
Will play baseball for the Aggies as well

Here is how Jones ranks according to the recruiting services:

On3 Industry Ranking | 4 | 151 | 21 | 15 |

He also had offers from USC, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Miami, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, and Tennessee.
Michigan did manage to lure Julius Holly, a four-star edge rusher, to Ann Arbor after it appeared he was Georgia-bound. It’s unclear if there’s another EDGE target that the Wolverines will target with Jones off the board.
