The San Antonio Spurs selected Stephon Castle with the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The UCONN product spent one season in the collegiate ranks, averaging 11.1 points, 2.9 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 47.2% from the field and 26.7% from three-point range. He will potentially provide the Spurs with their point guard of the future.
Following the completion of the draft, Spurs General Manager Brian Wright addressed the media as part of his post-draft news conference. He answered a wide range of questions in relation to Castle and the franchise’s decision to trade Rob Dillingham to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
San Antonio is expected to continue rounding out its roster during the free agency period. Nevertheless, Castle is the latest part of the franchise’s rebuilding process. Gregg Popovich will undoubtedly be looking forward to developing the young guard’s skillset.
