In one of the biggest upsets of the night, former Duke basketball star [autotag]Kyle Filipowski[/autotag] didn’t hear his name called among the first 30 selections.
According to ESPN’s Best Available Tracker, the 7-footer stood as the second-best player on the board at the conclusion of the opening round behind only Kansas star Johnny Furphy.
The 2022-23 ACC Rookie of the Year came back for a second season after he was considered a first-round pick a year ago, and all he did was average 16.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game while leading the Blue Devils to the Elite Eight.
According to ESPN Analytics, Filipowski had less than a 25% chance to reach the second round of the draft. He was heavily linked to the New York Knicks, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Phoenix Suns in mock drafts through the process but all went in different directions.
The second round of the NBA draft kicks off at 4 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday with the Toronto Raptors and Utah Jazz holding the first two picks.
