[autotag]Joe Gibbs Racing[/autotag] is undergoing a similar evolution as Hendrick Motorsports a few years ago. On Tuesday, Joe Gibbs Racing announced that Chase Briscoe will replace Martin Truex Jr. in the No. 19 Cup car starting in 2025. It’s a sign of change as Joe Gibbs Racing makes its lineup younger, much like Hendrick Motorsports a while ago after Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon.
One of those new drivers is [autotag]Kyle Larson[/autotag], who won the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series championship. Larson gave his assessment of Joe Gibbs Racing’s new lineup to NASCAR.com and compared it to the current setup at Hendrick Motorsports.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, it is [a solid, young foundation for the future at Joe Gibbs Racing]. And then you got one old guy [Denny Hamlin] that’s probably leaving in a few years, so yeah,” Larson said playfully. “I think they have a good lineup for sure. I think, looking at Hendrick Motorsports’ lineup, though, I think we have by far the strongest lineup for [the future].
Man totally blind sided by this news! Wishing @chaseelliott the best on his new adventure at @JoeGibbsRacing. Have enjoyed you as a teammate! 😂 Good Luck #d19 https://t.co/MLNUG7Qyim

“We’re all, you know, in our early 30s or late 20s. Mid 20s, for [William Byron]. And yeah, lots of wins and championships and all that. So yeah, it’s cool to see where the sport’s at right now.”
Larson is confident in the driver lineup at Hendrick Motorsports, and rightfully so. The NASCAR organization two championships in the last four years, while William Byron was really good in 2023. Joe Gibbs Racing has a great lineup for the future, and their battle with Hendrick Motorsports will be fascinating to watch moving forward.
