Arkansas baseball adds second West Coast commit in one day

Aiden Jimenez was the second West Coast player to commit to Arkansas baseball Tuesday, joining Fresno State transfer Rocco Peppi.

Former Oregon State pitcher Aiden Jimenez became the third player this week — and the second of the day — to announce his commitment to Arkansas via the transfer portal late Tuesday.

Jimenez joined former Fresno State outfielder Rocco Peppi in announcing his commitment to the Diamond Hogs for next season. He became Arkansas’ eighth known Division I transfer portal addition since the Razorbacks’ season ended on June 2 in the Fayetteville Regional of the NCAA Tournament.

Jimenez is the second pitcher to announce his commitment to Arkansas via the transfer portal, joining Ohio State left-hander Landon Beidelschies who pledged on Monday.

A 6-foot-3, 216-pound right-hander out of Elk Grove, Calif., Jimenez did not pitch for Oregon State in 2023 after undergoing season-ending surgery before the Beavers’ first game of 2024. The Oregonian reported in February that Jimenez’s surgery was related to an arm injury and speculated that he would need Tommy John surgery.

Prior to that, Jimenez pitched in 22 games for Oregon State as a freshman. All but one was in a relief appearance. He went 5-2 with a 5.68 ERA and struck out 35 batters to seven walks in 38 innings.

With Jimenez signaling his commitment to Arkansas, the Diamond Hogs now have eight Division I player additions via the transfer portal this offseason. In addition to Peppi and Beidelschies, the Razorbacks have also received commitments from Kuhio Aloy (from BYU), Charles Davalan (from Florida Gulf Coast), Carson Hansen (via Milwaukee-Wisconsin), Maximum Martin (from Georgia State) and Logan Maxwell (via TCU).
