The 2024 NBA draft is finally here. The two-day event will begin Wednesday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, with the first round, followed by the second round on Thursday afternoon.
While North Carolina isn’t expected to have a first-round selection, a former Tar Heel should hear his name called at some point Thursday. And it could be with a rising Eastern Conference team.
Harrison Ingram is projected to be a second-round pick with mocks sending him to Houston, Indianapolis and Golden State. The latest mock draft from The Athletic has Ingram landing in a favorable situation and potentially playing alongside a former Tar Heel.
Sam Vecenie has Ingram going No. 47 overall to the Orlando Magic, a team that is young and coming off a playoff appearance. It lost in seven games to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round.
It’s a very interesting landing spot for Ingram. He would join the Magic, who have a good core being built around former Duke star Paolo Banchero. This would give Ingram some time to sit and learn, earning his spot and potentially making an impact for the Magic.
Let’s hope Ingram can get in a good situation to start his NBA career.
