New Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick is trading in his microphone to pick up the clipboard.
During his official press conference on Monday, his first day as an NBA head coach for any franchise, Redick confirmed he wouldn’t host any podcasts while he coached the storied team.
“For the time being, and hopefully it’s a very, very long time, I am excommunicated from the content space,” Redick said. “So there will be no podcasts.”
Duke’s all-time leading scorer and a 15-year NBA veteran, Redick first emerged in his post-retirement career as a media superstar. He earned fans as an NBA analyst on ESPN daytime talk shows. He started his own podcast, ‘The Old Man and the Three’ (co-hosted with Tommy Alter), in August 2020 while he still played.
Earlier this year, he started the ‘Mind the Game’ podcast with Lakers star LeBron James, a union that first started rumors about him taking the job once it became available.

Redick said he’ll probably be too busy adjusting to the new position for the next month or two anyway, but Duke fans will need to get used to other avenues for Redick content.
