Oregon’s No. 1 prospect four-star TE Baron Naone chooses Washington

The Washington Huskies dipped into Oregon to add the state’s top player, tight end Baron Naone.

The Washington Huskies are continuing to see the results of their big recruiting weekend roll in, as four-star prospect Baron Naone became the fifth visitor from the June 21 weekend to announce his commitment to Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff.

“I love the coaches,” Naone told 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman. “They are super well known and they have a reputation of taking guys to the next level. We talked a lot of football and what my situation was going to be going into my freshman season.”

This is a big win for tight ends coach Jordan Paopao, who secured the 6-foot-3, 230-pound prospect over 10 other offers, including Arizona State, California, and Tennessee. The product of West Linn High School in Oregon is ranked as the state’s top prospect and as the nation’s No. 16 tight end by 247Sports.

“What they’re doing and how hard they push everyone to get to the next level made me feel at home,” Naone said.

Paopao doesn’t appear to be done at the position either, as he’s still pushing to add one of two other four-star prospects who took official visits to Seattle over the past two months, Kaleb Edwards and Vander Ploog. The latter appears to be the favorite to take the other spot at the moment, which would be a great class for the tight ends coach in his return to Montlake.
