[autotag]Kyle Busch[/autotag] is currently 31 points behind the playoff cut-line, with the NASCAR regular season inching toward its conclusion, and the pressure is building. Busch has been fast, but a mechanical issue knocked him out of the race at Iowa Speedway last weekend. Amid his struggles, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion’s future has been an extensive conversation.
FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass asked Busch about possibly returning to Joe Gibbs Racing in the future, and he gave an answer that might irk Richard Childress Racing. Busch also name-dropped Hendrick Motorsports.
“I would say anything is possible, always,” Busch said. “Certainly, if I was welcomed, I would go back [to Joe Gibbs Racing]. If [Hendrick Motorsports] welcomed me back, I would go back. But right now, I’m at [Richard Childress Racing] with my group of guys, and the deal that I have right now in place. We’re trying to work and build this program and make RCR great again.”
Busch could have declined to comment on Joe Gibbs Racing, but he purposely responded and brought up Hendrick Motorsports. The driver of the No. 8 car is under contract with Richard Childress Racing in 2025, but his contract is up ahead of the 2026 season. Could Busch return to Joe Gibbs Racing or Hendrick Motorsports then? The door isn’t closed.
