UCLA women’s team has one of best portal classes

UCLA is a tough team in the Big Ten.

The Pac-12 Conference had a ton of talented women’s basketball teams this past season. In 2024-2025, there are a lot of changes with the Pac-12 ending and the Big Ten adding some teams.

Brandon Clay of 247Sports ranked the best women’s basketball transfer portal classes, and UCLA fell in at No. 3 behind USC and Oklahoma.

The Bruins made a splash in the transfer portal for the second straight season. This year, it came in the form of the No. 5 rated portal prospect, Timia Gardiner, who left Oregon State to join the Bruins.

She played elite-level minutes while averaging 11.6 points and 7 rebounds per game. Bruins coach Cori Close now has her own version of the Twin Towers, pairing Gardiner with last year’s No. 3 rated transfer, Lauren Betts. They’ve also added backcourt depth with the No. 11 rated transfer, Charlisse Leger-Walker. Together, Gardiner and Leger-Walker give the Bruins the firepower needed to make a run late in the season.

Ohio State, Michigan State, Iowa and Maryland are other Big Ten programs on this list, so look out for the conference this upcoming season once again.
